Adventures at work: "Marhaba bikum fii Nyala" (Welcome to Nyala)

Based on a 2013 work trip to Nyala in Darfur, Sudan, this illustration with oilpaints was created for a dear Japanese colleague and now adorns her wall in a Tokyo apartment. The work trip involved analyses on livestock and groundnut oil - duly represented here. A UN-chartered plane flies above, connecting Nyala to Khartoum on the Nile. Based on true events, a Colombian team member holds a side-view mirror that had inexplicably fallen off our car. An unusual and action-packed adventure.

Berlin - Bike - Colombia

Conceptualized for a Colombian-German couple the artist knows and loves dearly! The cityscapes of Berlin transition to the beaches of Colombia - as Native Amercian whales hover above as reminders of a vacation taken in the Pacific Northwest. Lufthansa makes an appearance marking the airline of choice while the final scoreline from the 2014 FIFA World Cup match between Germany and Brazil is hidden in the clouds (-watched by the artist, his wife and the couple in downtown Vancouver). Buddhist prayer flags link the Berlin TV tower and the Cristo Rey in Colombia (this dude is not just in Brazil!); these flags can be found outside the couple's front door in Washington DC.
